Thigh lift surgery, is a procedure that reshapes the inner thighs by reducing excess skin and fat, and utilises liposuction to remove fat the outer thighs resulting in better-proportioned contours. Dr Brooks’ technique differs from others in that he removes fat circumferentially with liposuction and additionally uses a longer incision up into the groin allows the thighs to be lifted up more, stretching the skin and giving a smoother appearance. This technique removes the need for drains and preserves lymphatics and nerves.
A thigh lift is designed to tighten the skin and improve the contour of the thighs. The procedure tightens and smooths the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the thigh whilst reducing localised pockets of fat. Dr Brooks will discuss where the scar needs to finish: typically from the groin crease to either just above or just below the knee. Finally, to get an optimum outcome, Dr Brooks will review where else needs liposuction, usually on the tummy, mons and lower leg.
Thigh lift surgery is an individualised procedure and may not be suitable for everyone. Always talk to your Specialist Plastic Surgeon before making a decision. Your surgeon will assess your condition and general health, and plan the treatment that is best suited to you.
Thigh lift surgery is not suitable for people who are:
Not able to have an anaesthetic
Prone to bleeding tendencies or have poor healing ability
Too high risk of having surgical complications
Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. In cases where skin elasticity is poor, a combination of liposuction and thigh lift techniques may be recommended.
Thigh lift surgery may be a good option for you if:
You are physically healthy and you do not have not have medical conditions that can impair healing or increase risk of surgery
Your weight is relatively stable
You have excess soft tissue along the inner or medial thigh region and/or the outer thigh
You are a non-smoker or have stopped smoking
Every procedure is individualised to the patient. We will always provide honest and comparable results to give an idea of outcomes however results can not be guaranteed and will vary.
Scars are an inevitable part of any invasive surgery. Your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will endeavour to minimise scarring and to keep your scars as inconspicuous as possible by locating the incisions in easily hidden sites. That way, scars will be along natural skin lines and creases. Scars may fade with time and become barely noticeable. If you are prone to scarring, you should advise your surgeon.
Changes in weight may impact long term outcomes and skin can become more lax over time. This may influence want and need for revision and can be discussed with Dr Brooks at subsequent appointments.
Cost is always a consideration in elective surgery. Prices for individual procedures can vary widely between Specialist Plastic Surgeons. Some factors that may influence the cost include the surgeon’s experience, the type of procedure, anaesthetist and hospital location.
Costs associated with the procedure may include:
Surgeon’s fee
